Our 4th...and 500th.

Well, it just so happens that this post about our Fourth of July is the 500th post on this blog! I promise to make this 500th post so amazing you'll see fireworks at the end, ha ha.

For breakfast, we had red, white, and blue toast along with yogurt and fruit. The kids took morning baths before we headed out to take pictures in their 4th attire.

Oh...the evening before, the kids had fun helping me make firecracker cookies. These are made with a cake mix and are so yummy, and we ended up making more to take on our camping trip that weekend.

We also made these rice krispie "sparklers" or "wands" to take along with us to see fireworks.

We had been invited to a friend's pool party in the afternoon, and we also thought about heading up to Marblehead to see my grandma at her cottage...but in the end we decided to stay home. I didn't want to mess too much with our kids' schedules since we'd be having a later-than-usual night.

We left home at about 8:30pm and headed to Waterville for their fireworks. The kids were all decked out with glow-in-the-dark tattoos!

I was so proud of our kids because they actually did such a nice job waiting for an hour on this sleeping bag. We snacked, cuddled with blankies, talked, played with glow sticks, and kept an eye out for random fireworks being set off from nearby residences until the real show started at 10. Then I think they had had enough, and the fireworks didn't keep their attention for long. Figures!

They really enjoyed their rice krispie treats, and Jaxson was so funny...he kept grabbing new ones and only eating the berries off.

I promised ya fireworks...
