What's Up With: Emersyn

Well, for starters...we think she's incredibly cute! :)

Our feisty little gal now holds the honor of "first broken bone" among our kids, though it was not too serious and didn't require a cast. Big brother taught the twins to slide head-first off the furniture, with their arms outstretched and landing on their hands. A couple of weekends ago is when it happened, but we didn't realize anything was wrong for a few days. She had been extra moody, favoring her left arm and holding it close to her body at a 90 degree angle. Kris took her to the doctor, and an x-ray showed a small break between elbow and shoulder (the humerus bone). She had to see Dr. Buerk at Toledo Hospital the next day, and he said the break wasn't in a spot where a cast would help it. It's supposed to heal on its own in a couple weeks. We'll take her for another x-ray here soon to confirm, but she's acting normally and is using the arm more than she was a week or so ago.

Her hair is so long now! I love it...it is so pretty, but it can be tough to manage sometimes. We have to use a spray detangler after baths or whenever we brush it, and she completely melts down at the slightest tug. I want it to keep growing nicely, so maybe I'll take her for her first haircut (just a trim!) soon.

Emmy and Brody love to run circles around and around the house together chasing each other. They laugh and laugh! Both the twins are going through a phase right now where they will walk up and snatch a toy away from the other. Let me tell you, it's so lovely to hear someone's shrill scream every five minutes! ;) Her favorite play-things right now include her Minnie doll, a tea set, any and all books, and her Dora microphone.

She has begun to tell us, "No!" quite often and has even added, "Don't talk to me!" to her repertoire, ha ha!! While her tantrums and meltdowns can be quite draining, she has so many other qualities that make her so sweet and precious! Her soft voice, her flirty smiles, her giggles, the way she takes care of her dolls, her need for snuggles when she's having a rough day, the way she can remember and sing complete songs almost perfectly, her silly dance moves, her love of shoes and chapstick. I could go on!

While each of our children need, want, and deserve individual attention from both Kris and me, Emmy is the one who perhaps needs it the most right now. She is such a different girl when she has someone's complete attention.

See...she's actually still pretty darn cute when she's whining.

It seems like it wasn't long ago that she and her twin brother were blowing out two candles at their birthday party--me watching with a smile and an enormous belly. Now they're almost halfway to three! How can this be?!

(Jax and Brody updates in the works too. :) )

I just love her sassy little self! Of course she's going to be your one with the most attitude - she's your only girl! Adorable outfits too by the way!
